DUSHANBE, December 30, 2009, Asia-Plus - On Tuesday December 39, President Emomali Rahmon signed a decree on “Protection of Rights of Shareholders in Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSC) NOB Roghun,” according to presidential press service.
By this decree shares in Roghun HPP will be sold only to nationals of Tajikistan and legal entities founded on the basis of public ownership or individual ownership of citizens of Tajikistan.
Funds paid for acquisition of the shares will be considered to be, legalized and their owners will be exempted from liability.
The Ministry of Finance, the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT), Amonatbonk (Tajikistan’s savings bank) and other relevant governmental institutions are to provide confidentiality of persons that acquired shares, their amounts and dividends they draw.
The decree also bans inspection of activity of banks on realization of shares, collection of funds to help Roghun’s construction and registration of certificates of shares in OJSC NOB Roghun and in case of detection of crimes and other infringements committed by shareholders or employees of banks, inspection is conducted only by authority of the Prosecutor-General’s Office.
The president also charged the government to coordinate normative and legal acts for implementation of this decree and offer suggestions on improvement of the country’s legislation.
We will recall that shares in OJSC NOB Roghun are expected to be made available for trading on the country''s stock market o January 6, 2010.
