DUSHANBE, February 9, 2010, Asia-Plus -- A meeting of the Dushanbe mayor’s office to discuss issues related to improving quality of goods realized at Dusahnbe’s markets, saving electricity supply and making preparations to the Navrous holiday was held on February 8, the Dushanbe mayor’s office press service reported.
Speaking at the meeting, Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev urged relevant municipal services to take adequate measure to provide the city’s markets with qualitative goods. He charged a joint commission, comprising representatives from Tojikstandart (Tajik state agency for standardization, metrology, certification and trade inspection) and Dushanbe’s trade and markets directorate, to intensify work in this direction.
The Dushanbe trade and markets directorate was charged to confiscate all non-standard scale at the city’s bazaars and replace them with the electronic ones within two weeks.
The mayor also expressed dissatisfaction with activities of the Dushanbe passenger transport structures noting that they must review their activities. He demanded at the meeting that the situation should be put right within the next two weeks. Heads of the city’s passenger transport structures were warned that strict measures would be taken against them if they fail to implement their duties in future.
Ubaidulloyev also proposed to organized weekly subbotnik (day of volunteer work) in order to make proper preparations for the Navrouz holiday, which is celebrated on March 21.
The mayor also urged to improve work on the collection of funds from the city residents for public utilities.
Besides, for the purpose of saving electrical power and improving fire safety conditions in the city the mayor ordered to supply electricity to local enterprises working in one shift from 6:30 am to 7:00 pm.
The meeting also made decision on announcing a tender for construction of a plant for producing cotton wares in Dushanbe. The mayor’s office will own 51 percent of the shares and potential investors will assume the 49% ownership in the plant.
