DUSHANBE, May 11, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Tajikistan will make an appeal to international community for assistance with mitigation of effects of disasters that hit the south of the country.
According to presidential press service, speaking at a May 10 extraordinary meeting of the government, President Emomali Rahmon ordered the Foreign Ministry to make an official appeal to the international community for assistance with mitigation of “effects of humanitarian catastrophe.”
The Agency for Material Reserves is to take under strict control humanitarian aid arriving in the country and to ensure distribution of it to the disaster-hit areas in cooperation with Committee for Emergency Situations and local authorities.
The president also ordered the anticorruption agency to take under control distribution of the humanitarian aid.
