Dushanbe. June 23. “Asia-Plus” -- This morning Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon departed to the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Oblast (GBAO) to take part in festive events on the occasion of the 13th anniversary of Tajikistan’s National Unity Day. In the course of this trip President Rahmon will study way of life of local people inhabiting this mountain area.
President Rahmon will stay in GBAO for one week, President’s press service reported. In the course of this visit President Rahmon is scheduled to visit the city of Khorog, GBAO’s regional center, and will take part in commissioning of new objects, festive events and will meet with the local population.
According to the source, on the threshold of the National Unity Day tens of new social and economic objects have been erected in GBAO. The construction of these objects was funded by the Government of the country. “Currently, over 130 objects are being erected in GBAO. During 2006 – 2009 the government has allocated nearly 300mln Somoni for construction of these objects,” the source has said.
