KHOROG, June 26, 2010, Asia-Plus -- President Emomali Rahmon, who is currently in Gorno Badakhshan on a week-long visit to attend celebrations to mark the 13th anniversary of signing of the General Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and National Accord in Tajikistan, today visited the Roshtqala district.
Shotolib Shoqosimov, a spokesman for the GBAO regional administration, says the president attended the ceremony of opening of a new building of the branch of Amonatbonk (Tajikistan’s savings bank) in the district. Emomali Rahmon also inaugurated a 3000-seat multi-purpose stadium in Roshtqala.
In the afternoon, the head of state arrived in Khorog, the capital of Gorno Badakhshan, where he attended ceremonies of opening of a new youth center, new building of the regional TV station, Badakhshon, and renovated building of the GBAO Regional Theatre.
Today evening, he will also attend a ceremony of opening of a new choikhona (Tajik teahouse) in Khorog.
The main celebrations to mark the National Unity Day will take place in Khorog on June 27. Tomorrow, the president will also attend inauguration of new buildings of the GBAO police directorate and prosecutors’ office in Khorog.
