DUSHANBE, March 1, 2011, Asia-Plus  -- A February 28 government meeting, presided over by President Emomali Rahmon, considered a number of issues related to measures to curb food price hike in the country.

According to the presidential press service, Emomali Rahmon noted at the meeting that the world food prices were continuing to show upward tendency and ordered relevant officials to take measures to curb the negative impacts of that factor on the country’s economy.

The meeting also endorsed the national program for flood control embankments designed for 2011-2015, the comprehensive program for combating trafficking in human designed for 2011-2013 and the 2011-2015 science and technology strategy.

The meeting also heard the report about activities of the branch of the Aral Sea Salvage Foundation in Tajikistan.

The head of state ordered appropriate officials to take adequate measures to ensure protection of national interests of Tajikistan in the area of environmental protection, climate change, prevention of melting of glaciers and rational use of water resources.

By government’s decree 68.11 hectares were allotted in Khatlon’s Shouroobod district for housing to 370 flood-affected families, 523.49 hectares were allotted to 4,443 families in Tursunzoda district, and 6 hectares were allotted for construction of stadium in Sughd’s Bobojonghafurov district.

The meeting also endorsed a number of draft laws and they were submitted for consideration to the lower house of the parliament.
