DUSHANBE, September 21, 2011, Asia-Plus -- An extraordinary meeting of the government, presided over by President Emomali Rahmon, took place in Dushanbe Tuesday evening.
According to the presidential press service, issues related to preparations to ensure the regular work of the country’s economy during autumn-winter 2011-2012 were a major topic of the meeting.
Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov and heads of relevant ministries and agencies reported on this subject. They, in particular, noted that compared to 2010 financing of food and fuel purchases has increased 2.2 times and work on stockpiling coal, fuels, and food products is under way.
They also noted that 20 small hydropower plants with a total capacity of 2,500 kW have been introduced into operation in the country over the first eight months of this year and construction of 17 more small hydropower plants with a total capacity of 7,900 kW was nearing completion.
