DUSHANBE, June 13, 2012, Asia-Plus  -- The Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) has removed the bill requiring amendments to the law on combating terrorism from the agenda at the suggestion of the Majlisi Namoyandagon speaker Shukurjon Zuhurov.

Speaking at a regular sitting of the Majlisi Namoyandagon, Shukurjon Zuhurov noted on June 13 that the amendments to the law were offered by the President of the country.

The bill was removed from the agenda because additional proposals on the bill came to the parliament on the eve of the sitting and appropriate committees and commissions have not yet discussed those proposals, Zuhurov noted.

“New changes offered by the President are serious and they concern the structure of unit that will fight terrorism, including the political one, and therefore, the core committee of the parliament should discuss them and submit for consideration of the Majlisi Namoyandagon board,” Zuhurov noted.

The Majlisi Namoyandagon is expected to consider this bill in the second half of June, the parliament speaker added.
