DUSHANBE, June 19, 2012, Asia-Plus  -- The government plans to reduce the scales of benefits paid to members of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper camber of parliament) and deputies of the Majlisi Namoyandagon, source in Tajik government told Asia-Plus today.

According to him, amendments proposed to the RT Law “On the Status of Member of the Majlisi Milli and Deputy of the Namoyandagon” by the government provide for reducing the scale of pensions and invalidity benefits paid to parliamentarians.

Under the current law, parliamentarians given first degree disability will receive lump-sum grant equal to eight-year salary.  “If the proposed amendments are endorsed, the scales of pensions and invalidity benefits will be determined by the government,” the government said.

He supposes that the scale of pensions and invalidity benefits paid to parliamentarians will be much lower.

We will recall that current monthly wage of a deputy of Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament is 4,950 somoni.
