DUSHANBE, July 20, 2012, Asia-Plus -- During a visit to the Vahdat Township on July 19, President Emomali Rahmon urged increase in the country’s export potential, the president’s official website reports.
His call on local authorities to increase Tajikistan’s export potential came during an address to a meeting of regional administrators of Vahdat and heads of a number of districts subordinate to the center.
The meeting in Vahdat discussed the socioeconomic development of the country over the first half-year of 2012 and the implementation of the government resolution on taking timely preparations to ensure the regular work of the country''s economy during autumn-winter 2012-2013.
President Rahmon, in particular, pointed to the necessity of efficiently using farmlands, especially irrigate lands, getting two harvests, providing a cut in prices, stocking food products, fuels and forages for a winter period.
During his yesterday’s visit to Vahdat, the president also got acquainted with activities of more than ten farming units and industrial enterprises in the area.
