DUSHANBE, January 17, 2013, Asia-Plus  -- Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament has ratified a Tajik-Sino border regime agreement that was signed in June last year.

A regular sitting of the fourth session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the fourth convocation, presided over by its head, Shukurjon Zuhurov, was held on January 17.

Presenting the agreement, Chairman of the State Committee for National Security, Saymumin Yatimov, noted that the document determined the rules of passage of people, vehicles and commodities through Tajikistan’s common border with China.

“The agreement also determines the places for installing border marks and hunting in border areas,” the SCNS chief noted.

MP Amirqul Azimov noted that the agreement also determined issues related to joint protection of the environment in border areas and cooperation between border services of the two countries.

The Majlisi Namoyandagon deputies also discussed and endorsed the bill requiring amendments to the country’s laws on militsiya (police).
