DUSHANBE July 8, 2013, Asia-Plus -- President Emomali Rahmon’s three-day working visit to the southern province of Khatlon concluded yesterday afternoon.
According to the Tajik president’s official website, the main purpose of the visit was for the president to get acquainted with the conditions of life in the province and inaugurate a number of new economic and social facilities.
President Rahmon reportedly visited the city of Qurghon Teppa and the districts of Bokhtar, Vakhsh, and Rumi during his working trip to Khatlon.
A number of social and economic facilities were officially opened in the province during the president’s visit. Besides, groundbreaking ceremonies for construction of three large industrial enterprises in Khatlon, including oil mill, farm produce processing enterprise and spinning mill, were held in Khatlon during the president’s visit.
While in Khatlon, President Rahmon also attended a simultaneous wedding ceremony for 46 couples and a party on the occasion of circumcision of 600 children from vulnerable families. The president reportedly handed over gifts to the couples and the boys.
The president, in particular, inaugurated Tajikistan’s first innovative driving school and tennis court in Qurghon Teppa on July 5.
On the same day, Rahmon got acquainted with local farming units in the Bokhtar district and attended ceremonies of opening of a modern water park, new cotton-ginning factory, private kindergarten, sports hall, and egg production plant in the district.
While in the Rumi district, Emomali Rahmon, in particular, attended the ceremonies of official opening of a private hospital with 110 beds and a new school.
While in Vakhsh, the president attended the ceremony of an official opening of a boarding school for talented children.
