DUSHANBE, October 8, 2013, Asia-Plus -- Tajik President Emomali Rahmon today morning left for the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) on a working three-day visit, according to the president’s official website.
The purpose of the visit is for the president to get acquainted with socioeconomic life of the region and participation in ceremonies of an official opening of a number of social and cultural facilities in Gorno Badakhshan.
The first leg of the president’s trip to the area will be the Vanj district, where Emomali Rahmon will attend ceremonies of opening of a small hydroelectric power plant and a stadium.
The head of state is also scheduled to visit the Darvoz and Shugnan districts as well as the city of Khorog, the capital of Gorno Badakhshan.
While in Darvoz, Shugnan and Khorog, Emomali Rahmon will address meetings of regional administrators, the president’s website said.
