DUSHANBE, October 8, 2013, Asia-Plus -- President Emomali Rahmon has ordered administrators of the Vanj district in the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) to increase mining operations.
According to the Tajik president’s official website, the order came during Rahmon’s address to a meeting of regional administrators in the district center of Vanj. Rahmon also ordered to enhance the farm produce processing sector.
For his part, the Vanj head Kalon Damdorov reportedly noted that two sewing workshops would be introduced into operation in the district before the 2014 Navrouz holiday (March 21, 2014). These sewing workshops are expected to create 500 new jobs in the district.
Monday morning, the president attended a ceremony of an official opening of a new small hydroelectric power plant with capacity of 800 kW in Vanj. Local entrepreneurs reportedly invested more than 7 million somoni in the construction of this small power plant
Rahmon also inaugurated a new spots hall in the administrative center of the Vanj district today. 2.5 million somoni have been spent for construction of this sports hall.
