DUSHANBE, November 11, 2013, Asia-Plus -- Dushanbe’s main square, Dousti Square, will be closed to traffic and pedestrians at night until the weekend, Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor’s office, told Asia-Plus today.
According to him, Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev permitted the Ministry of Defense to rehearse soldiers for a military parade that will take place in Dushanbe on the occasion of the presidential inauguration.
“In view of the rehearsal, the Dousti Square in Dushanbe downtown will be closed to traffic and pedestrians the from 20:00 to 24:00,” the spokesman said.
We will recall that a military parade will be held in Dushanbe on the occasion of the 2013 presidential inauguration. More than 7,000 servicemen will march on November 16 after a ceremonial event marking the commencement of a new seven-year term of a president of Tajikistan.
Tajik Defense Minister, Colonel-General Sherali Khairulloyev, and Commander of the Dushanbe Garrison, Major-General Latif Fayziyev, will command the parade.
