DUSHANBE, September 29, Asia-Plus -- The Government of Tajikistan has established the Agency for Supervision of Safety of Hydropower Facilities.
The agency top manager Bahodur Isupov says the new agency will supervise observance of norms and standards of construction and repair of dams, hydropower plant buildings, water discharge tunnels, and other hydropower facilities.
The agency will also participate in working out draft laws and in implementation of areal programs aiming to ensure safety of hydropower facilities.
Besides, the agency specialists will participate in removal of accidents occurring at hydroelectric power plants, timely warn the population of the threat of accidents at hydropower facilities, and control conduct of researches to determine state of hydropower facilities.
The Agency for Supervision of Safety of Hydropower Facilities will subordinate to the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources.
