DUSHANBE, October 9, 2014, Asia-Plus – On Wednesday October 8, Tajik Ambassador to Russia Imomuddin Sattorov met in Saint Petersburg with the Saint Petersburg Governor Georgy Poltavchenko.
According to the Saint Petersburg City Administration, the two discussed issues related to cooperation between Saint Petersburg and Tajikistan in the field of labor migration and holding of Days of Saint Petersburg in Dushanbe.
In the course of the talks, Poltavchenko reportedly noted that Saint Petersburg needed highly skilled labor migrants with working knowledge of Russian.
The Saint Petersburg governor noted that the city was ready to assist with organization of training centers for labor migrants in Tajikistan.
Days of Saint Petersburg are expected to be held in Dushanbe next month and the Saint Petersburg governor Georgy Poltavchenko is expected to attend this event.
Meanwhile, TV program Petersburgskiy Dnevnik noted that Poltavchenko and Sattorov had also discussed opening of the Consulate of Tajikistan in Saint Petersburg.
Some 120,000 national of Tajikistan now live and work in Saint Petersburg.
