DUSHANBE, July 3, 2015, Asia-Plus -- The delegation of the Republic of Poland''s Sejm (lower chamber of parliament), led by the Deputy Speaker Mr. Jerzy Wenderlich, visited Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament on July 3.
Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, sys they held talks with Majlisi Namoyandagon Vice Speaker Mr. Akramsho Felaliyev.
The two sides reportedly discussed issues related to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Poland.
Felaliyev, in particular, said that strengthening of parliamentary ties between the two countries would promote expansion of economic cooperation between them.
He noted that Tajikistan-Poland Parliamentary Friendship Group was established in April this year. The aim of this group is to foster relations between the two countries.
Jerzy Wenderlich, for his part, noted that his country is interested in expanding bilateral cooperation with Tajikistan as Poland imports cotton fiber, raw silk, and primary aluminum from Tajikistan.
The Sejm of the Republic of Poland is the lower house of the Polish parliament. It consists of 460 deputies elected by universal ballot and is presided over by a speaker called the “Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland.”
Jerzy Wenderlich is a Polish politician. He was initially elected to Sejm in 1993, representing the Democratic Left Alliance, and was reelected in 1997, 2001, 2005 and 2007.
