DUSHANBE, June 23, 2016, Asia-Plus – Parliamentary hearing to discuss implementation of the food safety law took place in Dushanbe on June 23.
Co-chaired by Deputy Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower house of parliament) Speaker, Mrs. Khairnisso Yusufi, the meeting brought together parliamentarians as well as Izatullo Sattori, Minister of Agriculture, Navrouz Jaffarov, Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ibodullo Qurboniyon, Director of Tajik Standard (Tajikistan''s consumer rights protection agency), and representatives of relevant ministries and agencies.
The meeting participants reportedly adopted recommendations that will be sumitted for consideration to the government, Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for Majlisi Namoyandagon, told Asia-Plus in an interview.
According to him, special working groups consisting of parliamentarians and representatives of relevant ministries and agencies have conducted raids on food production enterprises in all regions of the country to inspect them for compliance with requirements of production technology and food storage.
