On Saturday July 6, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon sent a congratulatory telegram to the newly elected President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

The telegram reads:

"Your Excellency,

“I have the honor to express my sincere congratulations and best wishes on the occasion of your victory in the election of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

“Your victory in the elections is, first of all, a sign of the confidence of the Iranian society in your constructive programs and intentions to ensure stable socio-economic development of Iran.

“Tajikistan and Iran are connected by many cultural, historical and civilizational commonalities, which are a favorable basis for continuous strengthening and expansion of friendly relations and multifaceted cooperation between our countries.

“Using this opportunity, I would like to emphasize the commitment of the Tajik side to the expansion of bilateral cooperation in the spirit of mutual understanding, respect, and sincere trust to each other.

“At the same time, I consider the continuation of the high-level dialogue as an important means of promoting this process in line with the national interests of Tajikistan and Iran.

“In this regard, I would like to invite you to make an official visit to Tajikistan at your earliest convenience.

“I wish you good health and success in the implementation of your programs and plans in the high office of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and I wish peace and stability, well-being and ever-increasing prosperity to the friendly and brotherly people of Iran.”
