As part of his working visit to the Rasht Valley (eastern Tajikistan), President Emomali Rahmon on September 11 held a meeting with the administrators and activists of Sangvor district.
The Tajik president’s official website says that first of all, Emomali Rahmon congratulated all residents of Sangvor district and the participants of the meeting on the 33rd anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence.
It was emphasized that thanks to the independence, the country’s government has carried out significant constructive works for more than thirty years for the development and prosperity of the distant mountain districts, including the Sangvor district.
The president reportedly recalled the development and construction works in honor of the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence and stated that the construction of 80 buildings and structures was planned in Sangvor district, and works on 30 facilities have been completed so far.
In his speech, Emomali Rahmon reflected on the state support of the district and mentioned that 1.1 billion somonis had been allocated from all sources to ensure the development of Sangvor district and increase the quality of life of its residents during the period of independence.
During this period, 850 million somonis were reportedly allocated to the district from the state budget, including 220 million somonis from the national budget to cover the expenses of the district budget.
So far, 9 state investment projects worth 24 million somonis have been implemented in the district for the construction and rehabilitation of educational and health facilities, access of the population to electricity, improvement of the quality of roads, development of the agricultural sector and rehabilitation of rural infrastructure, and now the implementation of 3 more projects is ongoing, according to the Tajik president’s official website. Also, during this period, foreign direct investment in the amount of more than 150 million somonis has been attracted to the district.
The head of state stated that in addition to all the measures, the socio-economic development program for 2021-2025 is being implemented in the district, within which 174 projects with a total amount of 148 million somonis are planned, and so far 53 projects with the amount of 71 million somonis have been implemented.
It was emphasized that there are only 5 industrial enterprises operating in the district, and this does not correspond to the goal of rapid industrialization.
Emomali Rahmon tasked the district’s executive authorities and the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies to take practical measures to attract domestic and foreign capital and build new factories and industrial enterprises.
During the analysis of the state of the agricultural sector, including the increase in the area of cultivation of crops, gardens and the number of livestock, the production of agricultural products, Emomali Rahmon reportedly instructed the district leadership and officials of the sector to take action together with the relevant ministries and departments to increase the productivity of crops and the volume of production of agricultural products in the direction of effective use of agricultural land.
In his speech, the head of state also analyzed the development of transport, education and health in Sangvor district, and gave instructions and guidance to the officials to correct the shortcomings and find solutions.
