As part of his working visit to the northern province of Sughd, President Emomali Rahmon inaugurated the new Sayri Sughd plant in Sughd’s capital, Khujand.  The enterprise was built in the Sughd Free Economic Zone (FEZ Sughd) by local entrepreneur Mirzojon Umarov.

The Tajik president’s official website says the project required an investment of 23 million somonis.  The plant, which began operations in January this year, produces in-demand products such as children's toys and electric scooters.  Its production capacity is 250 scooters and 20,000 toys per month.

Currently, 60 people work at the plant across two shifts, with plans to increase the workforce to 150 employees in the future.  The facility is reportedly equipped with modern technologies, including machinery imported from China.

Additionally, the president launched a new production line for polyethylene film at the "Polymer Technology" LLC factory in Khujand on Wednesday.  This enterprise was established by local entrepreneur Saidkhoja Zikriyokhujayev, who reportedly invested over 20 million somonis.  Originally opened in 2009, the enterprise underwent modernization to meet market demand.

During his visit to Khujand, Emomali Rahmon also attended the Honey, Potato, and Pomegranate Festival in the Sughd region, showcasing the finest agricultural products from the area.

The president noted an increase in the number of bee colonies, which reached 80,500 as of November 1, 2024—578 more than in the previous year.

Attention was reportedly also drawn to achievements in potato cultivation.  Over the first ten months of this year, famers in the Sughd province have produced over 640,000 tons of potatoes, an increase of 105,000 tons compared to the previous year, thanks to the effective use of advanced farming techniques.
