This year, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon is expected to address a joint meeting of both chambers of parliament on December 28, the press center of Tajikistan’s upper chamber (Majlisi Milli) of parliament says.
In his last year’s address, Emomali Rahmon highlighted Tajikistan’s recent achievements, existing challenges, and strategic goals.
In his speech, the president emphasized the critical duty of addressing shortcomings and solving pressing issues, calling it a "sacred obligation" for all leaders, including government officials, members of parliament, regional and district leaders, civil servants, and activists.
He also stressed the need for national unity and foresight in the face of global threats and instability. According to him, all efforts must focus on protecting national values and advancing the country’s development.
In the televised version of his address, President Rahmon touched on the issue of migration, acknowledging that thousands of Tajik men and women remain abroad due to the government’s insufficient attention to their needs.
However, in the official version of the speech, this topic was only partially addressed, with an emphasis on the importance of preparing qualified professionals to meet national demands.
Meanwhile, the 20th session of the Majlisi Milli of the sixth convocation will be held in Dushanbe on December 27.
During the session, senators are set to review several legislative initiatives, including the Law on the Unified State System for the Registration and Accounting of Offenses; the Law on Social Entrepreneurship, Amendments to the Administrative Offenses Code; Draft laws on Subsoil Use, and legislation on Child Rights Protection.
Since 2015, the joint meeting of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) and the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament) has taken place at the Kokhi Somon State Complex in Dushanbe.
Heads of all provinces, cities and districts as well as ministries and agencies have been invited to attend the meeting.
In his address to the parliament, the president usually discusses the country’s priorities in domestic politics and foreign policy as well as the main economic challenges.
