DUSHANBE, March 17, 2011, Asia-Plus -- An operation by officers from the Interior Ministry department for combating drug trafficking (drug police) has led to the seizure of a large amount of narcotics in Dushanbe.
The source at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) says A.M., 29, was arrested in Dushanbe yesterday on suspicion of drug peddling. A package containing narcotic drug that tested positive to raw opium weighing more than 10 kilograms was confiscated from him.
On the same day, Kulob resident was detained with more than two kilograms of hashish in Dushanbe.
According to the statistical data from the Interior Ministry, Tajik law enforcement authorities have seized some 500 kilograms narcotics, with major part of them being cannabis, across the country since the beginning of the year.
