DUSHANBE, April 22, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Officers from the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) have reportedly intercepted more than 150 kilograms of narcotics in two separate operations in the southern Khatlon province.
Nozirjon Bouriyev, a spokesman for SCNS, says an operation carried out by security officers in Khatlon’s Hamadoni district on April 21 led to the seizure of large amount hashish. “A car belonging to local resident Ibrohim Azizov was stopped on Thursday and more than 42 kilograms of hashish were found hidden in the car. Azizov and his passenger Rajabali Taghoyev were detained on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking,” said Bouriyev, “When searching Azizov’s house, security officers found another 59 kilograms of hashish.”
Besides, assault rifle Kalashnikov, two hunting guns and large amount of bullets were reportedly found in the house of Ibrohim Azizov.
On the same day, security officers seized more than 48 kilograms of narcotics in Farkhor district, the spokesman added.
