DUSHANBE, May 2, 2011, Asia-Plus -- An annual anti-drug operation, dubbed “Kuknor 2011” (Poppy 2011), was launched in Tajikistan on May 1.
According to the Drug Control Agency (DCA) under the President of Tajikistan, the operation, involving representatives of law enforcement agencies, local authorities, ministries of agriculture and health, as well as the committee for TV and radio-broadcasting, is dedicated to detect and destroy drug crops across the country.
A special stuff, comprising senior representatives from the mentioned bodies, functions at the counternarcotics agency, the source said, adding that the anti-drug operation will last until the end of November.
