DUSHANBE, September 27, 2012, Asia-Plus – Wednesday afternoon, September 26, U.S. Defense Attaché, Lieutenant-Colonel John Fravel, on behalf of the U.S. Embassy’s Office of Military Cooperation (OMC), handed over new radio equipment to the Border Guard Service at the Tajik Border Guard Headquarters.
The U.S. Embassy says the event was attended by General-Major Sharaf Fayzulloyev, Colonel Soleh Shekhov, and Major Zarif Hakimov.
Lieutenant-Colonel Fravel noted, “We are pleased to be able to assist the Tajik Border Guards with improving their communications capabilities. We hope this equipment will significantly contribute to the safety of the Border Guard Officers who risk their lives to maintain the security of Tajikistan''s borders.”
OMC’s donation is one of many assistance projects that the U.S. Embassy has provided Tajikistan’s law enforcement agencies. Since 1992, the American people have provided more than $984 million in programs that support Tajikistan’s education, democratic institutions, health care and economic growth.
