DUSHANBE, November 27, 2012, Asia-Plus -- A memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the Ministry of Interior (MoI) of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of China was signed in Beijing on November 26.
The document was inked by Tajik Interior Minister Ramazon Rahimov and Chinese Minister of Public Security Meng Jianzhu.
An official source at a MoI says cooperation between the ministries in combating terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking was a major topic of the talks between Rahimov and Meng. The sides also considered issues related to exchange of information and training of personnel for Tajik police.
During the meeting, Tajik minister reportedly made proposals on expansion of cooperation between the two ministries.
For his part, Chinese minister promised assistance and support on all directions of cooperation.
The meeting reportedly ended with signing of the memorandum of understanding on border cooperation between the Ministry of Interior of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Public Security of China.
The Minister of Public Security of the People''s Republic of China is a high level official of the PRC government. The minister is in charge of the Ministry of Public Security of the PRC, which is responsible for law enforcement, public safety and the police force in China. It should not be confused with the Ministry of State Security which is the primary Chinese intelligence and security agency.
While in Beijing, Tajik delegation also visited the Beijing Traffic Safety Research Center and the Special Police College.
We will recall that Tajik Interior Minister Ramazon Rahimov was on a working visit to China from November 25 to November 26 and Abdurahim Rahimov, chief of the Interior Ministry office, Mahmadsaid Saidov, chief of the Interior Ministry traffic police, and Jamshed Mashrabov, head of the Interpol National Central Bureau in Tajikistan, accompanied him on this visit.
