DUSHANBE, February 26, 2013, Asia-Plus – Tajik police have reportedly warded off four drug pushing attempts over the past days and seized 26 kilograms of narcotics.
The 32-year-old resident of the Hamadoni district (Khatlon province), O.U., was detained in Dushanbe’s Firdavsi district yesterday on suspicion of having been involved in drug pushing. Ten packages of narcotic drug that tested positive to hashish weighing more than 10 kilograms were confiscated from him.
On the same day, resident of the city of Khorog, M.A., 38, was detained by police in Dushanbe’s Sino district and one kilogram of hashish was confiscated from him.
The 48-year-old resident of the Bobojonghafurov district (Sughd province), was detained in the northern city of Isfara on suspicion of drug trafficking on February 25. More than 13 kilograms of hashish were confiscated form him.
The fourth drug trafficking attempt was warded off in the Shouroobod district (Khatlon province). The 32-year-old Z.A., who has three previous convictions for drug pushing, was detained with some two kilograms of cannabis.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained drug peddlers and an investigation is under way.
