DUSHANBE, June 18, 2013, Asia-Plus – Servicemen of Tajik power-wielding structures (State Committee for National Security (CSNS), Ministry of Defense (MoD), National Guards, drug control and anticorruption agencies) have been on regular night patrol in Dushanbe for more than two months.
Representatives from the power-wielding structures have failed to explain clearly the reason for involvement of their servicemen in providing regular night patrol in Dushanbe. Under the country’s legislation, maintenance of public order is duty of the law enforcement officers.
An official source at one of the country’s power-wielding structures, who wanted to remain unnamed, said that regular night patrolling adversely affected the results of their daily work.
“Our servicemen have been on the regular night patrolling since April. The night patrolling lasts until 3:00 or 4:00 am, and therefore, our servicemen are not able to properly fulfill their direct.”
According to him, some servicemen have not withstood this load and resigned.
According to unconfirmed information, the night patrolling of Dushanbe will last till mid-November, when the presidential election will be held.
