DUSHANBE, August 6, 2013, Asia-Plus – Customs officers seized some 3.5 kilograms of heroin at the Dushanbe airport on August 5, a source at the Customs Service under the Government of Tajikistan told Asia-Plus Tuesday afternoon.
An inspection of passengers on the Dushanbe-St. Petersburg flight found some 3.5 kilograms of heroin hidden in a suitcase belonging to a young woman.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the alleged drug peddler and an investigation is under way.
Since the beginning of the year, Tajik customs officers have reportedly seized more than seven kilograms of heroin.
