HUJAND, September 4, 2013, Asia-Plus – Soghd Resident Introduced Himself as Municipality Official, Engaged in Fraud.

Interior Ministry Directorate in Soghd Province reported to Asia-Plus that a criminal case has been opened under Article 247, Part 3 of the Criminal Code (Fraud on a Large Scale) against a 35-year-old resident of Istaravshan, Z.S., previously convicted of extortion.

It has been found that in May, he fraudulently entered the trust of Khojand resident, S.A., introducing himself as Khojand Municipality official, and promised to provide him land to build a house. In return he asked for and received 8 thousand and 540 Samani from S.A., and spent the money for his personal needs.

In this exact manner he received money in the amount of 7 thousand 300 Samani and 19 thousand Samani from two other Khojand residents, promising them land.

Investigation continues based on these facts.

According to the Soghd Anti-Corruption Directorate, in the first half of 2013, 47 fraud facts have been registered in northern Tajikistan (2012 - 76).
