DUSHANBE, September 26, 2013, Asia-Plus – Kazakhstan’s lower house (Mazhilis) of parliament has received for consideration a draft law on ratification of a government-to-government agreement between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan on providing no-strings military and technical aid to the Tajik national army, according to the Kazakh parliament’s website.
This document was signed in Dushanbe last April during Kazakh defense minister’s visit to Tajikistan.
The document reportedly provides for rendering no-strings military and technical aid to the Tajik armed forces for the purse of extending Tajikistan’s defense capacity.
One of the key aspects of the agreement is training of personnel for the Tajik national army in Kazakhstan. The sides also consider the possibility of conducting joint military exercises.
