DUSHANBE, October 18, 2013, Asia-Plus – By Russian president’s decree Colonel Yevgeniy Tubol was appointed commander of the 201st Russian military base deployed in Tajikistan, replacing Colonel Sergey Ryumshin, according to the Russian ministry of Defense (MoD) press center.
Born in the village of Chuguyevka, Chuguyev district, Primorskiy Krai on September 3, 1968, Yevgeniy Tubol graduated from the Far Eastern Military Command School in 1986. In 2011, he graduated from Military Academy of the Armed Forces of the Russia Federation and in 2012, he graduated from the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Colonel Tubol is married with three children.
The Russian military base was officially opened in Tajikistan in 2004 under a previous agreement, which was signed in 1993, and hosts Russia’s largest military contingent deployed abroad.
A total of some 7,000 Russian troops are stationed at three military facilities collectively known as the 201st military base - in Dushanbe, Qurghon Teppa, some 100 kilometers from Dushanbe, and Kulob, about 200 kilometers southwest of Dushanbe.
