DUSHANBE, October 24, 2013, Asia-Plus -- A ceremony of handover of assistance of the US Embassy in Dushanbe to Tajik OMON (Special Police Unit) has taken place in Dushanbe, the Interior Ministry’s website reports.
Speaking at the ceremony of handover of bullet-proof vests, special helmets, masks, binoculars and other equipment, Tajik Interior Minister Ramazon Rahimov reportedly noted that OMON officers would be in the front line of fight against terrorism, extremism, drug and weapons trafficking in the future as well.
U.S. Ambassador to Tajikistan, MS. Susan Elliott, has noted that Tajik OMON officers took training in the United States last year and showed high professionalism, the Interior Ministry’s website said.
