DUSHANBE, December 12, 2013, Asia-Plus -- An Afghan drug dealer has reportedly been killed in crossfire on the Tajik-Afghan border in the southern Khatlon province.

According to the State Committee for National Security (SCNS)’s press center, there was crossfire between several Afghan drug traffickers, who illegally crossed the border river in the Hamadoni district, and Tajik security officers. 

One of trespassers – Dovoud waladi Jumakhon, 40, who was reportedly leader of that drug-trafficking group – was killed while resisting detention. Other members of the drug-trafficking group managed to return to Afghan territory.

Two F-1 hand grenades and fifteen kilograms of narcotics were found on the spot, the source said.

Over the first eleven months of this year, SCNS officers have reportedly seized more than 2,232 kilograms of narcotics.
