DUSHANBE, December 17, 2013, Asia-Plus – Officers from the St. Petersburg police have detained Tajik national at the request of the Tajik authorities.

According to the Russian Interior Ministry’s office in St. Petersburg, a 33-year-old national of one of Central Asia’s countries was detained on December 14.

He is suspected of committing a crime in his native country, the press center of the Russian Interior Ministry’s office in St. Petersburg said.

Meanwhile, the Operativnoye Prikrytiye news agency reports the arrested is the 33-year-old national of Tajikistan, Umar Nematov.  In Tajikistan, he is suspected of organizing activity of an extremist group (Article 307 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code), Operativnoye Prikrytiye noted.

We will recall that another Tajik national was arrested in Moscow on November 14 on suspicion of being member of the banned Islamic organization Hizb ut-Tahtrir.

The Russian Interior Ministry did not make his name public.  The ministry said the man had been deported from Russia in the past for violating migration regulations but recently returned to the country using forged identity documents.  The man has allegedly propagated the ideas of Hizb ut-Tahrir among mosques in Moscow.
