DUSHANBE, January 3, 2014, Asia-Plus – Two separate operations carried out by police officers on January 1 led to the arrest of three alleged drug peddlers in the district of Fakhor and the city of Kulob, according to the Interior Ministry’s website.
An operation carried out by officers from the Interior Ministry’s office in the city of Sarband (Khatlon province) in the district of Farkhor (Khatlon) reportedly led to the arrest of Dushanbe resident Umedjon, 29. Drug narcotic that tested positive to hashish weighing 5.851 kilograms was confiscated from him.
An operation carried out by officers from the Interior Ministry’s office for Khatlon province in Kulob led to the arrest of local resident Abdulvohid Rahimov, 35. 5.015 kilograms of cannabis were found hidden in his home.
The preliminary investigation has reportedly established that the found cannabis belongs to Kulob resident Farhod Rahimov, 28.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the alleged drug peddlers under the provisions of Article 200 (4) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – drug trafficking; an investigation is under way.
