DUSHANBE, January 27, 2014, Asia-Plus – On Monday January 27, U.S. Embassy Assistant Regional Security Officer (ARSO) Ryan Evans congratulated 23 participants from Tajikistan''s Ministry of Internal Affairs, State Committee for National Security, and General Prosecutor’s Office for completing the Major Case Management course.
According to the U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe, the Major Case Management course is designed to enhance the ability to organize, direct, and control a complex investigation related to terrorism or other major criminal acts and includes training on the management of cooperative investigations that integrate assets from multiple units.
ARSO Evans stated that the course is one of several Antiterrorism Assistance (ATA) courses planned in 2014 for Tajikistan’s law enforcement agencies, sponsored by the U.S. State Department Diplomatic Security Bureau’s ATA Office and facilitated by the U.S. Embassy’s Regional Security Office. He went on to thank the participants for their efforts in combating terrorism and extremism.
ARSO Evans also mentioned that the ATA program adheres to the “train-the-trainer” methodology and expressed his hope that the knowledge officers gained during this course will be shared with their colleagues.
The ATA Office was established in 1983 and is part of the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security. It is an essential U.S. Government mechanism that provides training, equipment, and technology to partner governments actively engaged in fighting terrorism.
Since 1992, the American people have provided over $1 billion and continuously contribute in programs and humanitarian aid that support Tajikistan’s democratic institutions, health care, education, and economic growth.
