DUSHANBE, March 13, 2014, Asia-Plus – A ceremony of handover of the assistance provided by the US Central Command (USCENTCOM) took place in the building of the Drug Control Agency under the President of Tajikistan (DCA) in Dushanbe yesterday.
According to the DCA press center, the assistance that was provided within the framework of the USCENTCOM drug prevention program included office equipment, operative equipment and equipment for analysis of narcotic drugs.
This drug prevention program reportedly provides for development of infrastructure, training courses, technical assistance and support to the Tajik counternarcotics agency.
Established in 1983, the United States Central Command (USCENTCOM) is a theater-level Unified Combatant Command of the U.S. Department of Defense. It was originally conceived of as the Rapid Deployment Joint Task Force (RDJTF). Its area of responsibility includes countries in the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia.
