DUSHANBE, April 12, 2014, Asia-Plus – The Interior Ministry’s website reports that police officers seized more than three kilograms of raw opium in two separate operations carried out in the Hamadoni district and the city of Kulob on April 11.
Officers from the Interior Ministry’s office in the Hamadoni district reportedly found 2.5 kilograms of raw opium hidden in Opel-Vectra belonging to local resident Zoirsho Qalandarov, 37.
On the same day, officers from the Khatlon organized crime control directorate arrested resident of the city of Kulob, Khurshed Nabiyev, 39. 730 grams of raw opium were found his home.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against both alleged drug peddlers and an investigation is under way.
