DUSHANBE, May 12, 2014, Asia-Plus – A large amount of hashish has been seized in the northern city of Khuand (the capital of Sughd province), the Interior Ministry’s website reported on May 12.
Resident of Istaravshan, Marouf Sharifov, 50, who had previous conviction for drug peddling, has been detained by police officers in Khujand on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking.
Several packages of narcotic drug that tested positive to hashish weighing 36.79 kilograms were confiscated from him.
Besides, Khujand resident, Jahongir Imomqulov, 31, has been detained in the northern city of Konibodom on suspicion of drug peddling. 838 grams of hashish have been confiscated from him.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against alleged drug peddlers and an investigation is under way.
