By order of the Government of Tajikistan, Ministry of Internal Affairs has prepared a draft law "On Police ", according to this draft law “the militia” will be renamed to the “police". It was reported to Asia-Plus from the Government, the bill consists of 6 chapters and 38 articles and it will replace the law of Tajikistan “On Militia” adopted in May 2004. “The bill is now at the approval stage in the relevant ministries and institutions and after the Government approval it will be sent to the lower house of parliament for discussion” - said the source.
He stated further that the new bill basically covers the norms laid down in the law of Tajikistan “On militia”. “For the rotation of senior local police staff the bill is provided to conduct a sociological survey of the population of regions of country that carries out biannual by the Rotation Commission of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan”, - stressed the source.
