MPs of Majlisi namoyandagon Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan today approved proposed amendments by the Government to the Criminal Code of Tajikistan. First Deputy Minister of Justice of Tajikistan Abdumanon Kholiqov in his speech presented amendments and he said that it is introduced a new article criminalizes an involvement in wars and armed conflicts in other countries into the Criminal Code. According to Kholiqov, only last year six citizens of Tajikistan were prosecuted for their involvement in wars and armed conflicts in other countries (Syria). "Since there was no separate article for participation in wars and armed conflicts in other countries, they are brought to justice for their participation in organized criminal groups,” said Kholiqov. He said that according to a new article of the Criminal Code, the sentence of convicted for involvement in wars and armed conflicts in other countries will depend on the laws of those states on whose territory there were committed such crimes. "Anyway, the sentence for such crimes in Tajikistan will not be higher than required by law of states on whose territory there were committed such crimes ,” stressed Kholiqov.
