DUSHANBE, June 19, 214, Asia-Plus -- Head of Tajikistan’s State Committee for National Security (SCNS) Saymumin Yatimov considers that some international organizations sponsor organized criminal grouping in Tajikistan in order to destabilize the situation in the country.
He stated this here today at a conference formally titled “Countering Modern Challenges and Threats in the Central Asian Region: Achievements and Prospects of Tajikistan in Combating Terrorism, Extremism and Corruption.”
Yatimov is sure that big geopolitical games have taken place around Tajikistan lately. According to him, some special services are working in the country with organized criminal groups in order to destabilize the situation in Tajikistan and in the region as a whole. “Big countries are interested in this,” SCNS chief said.
Yatimov called on partners not to confuse Tajikistan with countries rich in oil and natural gas and to understand the role of Tajikistan in the system of providing regional and global security.
He further added that “there ought not to “Afghanize” Central Asia; but on contrary, there ought to turn Afghanistan into Central Asia.”
