DUSHANBE, July 18, 2014, Asia-Plus -- 9,339 crimes have been reported in Tajikistan over the first six months of this year, which is 500 cases more than in the same period last year, Interior Minister Ramazon Rahimzoda announced at a news conference in Dushanbe on July 18.
Some 89 percent of all the crimes have reportedly been solved.
Over the same six-month period, Tajik police have detected and broken up 14 criminal organized groupings that have committed 90 especially grave crimes.
“In January-June this year, police officers have prevented five terrorist acts and arrested 49 members of terrorist organizations, 39 members of illegal armed group, and nine members of gang groups that have committed 169 crimes,” the minister said.
According to him Tajik law enforcement authorities have seized 3,287 kilograms of narcotics over the report period. Of this amount, 1,560 kilograms of narcotics have been seized by police officers.
