DUSHANBE, September 11, 2014, Asia-Plus – Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran have plans to increase cooperation in the field of combating drug trafficking.

Tajik Interior Minister Ramazon Rahimzoda yesterday received his Iranian counterpart Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli, who is accompanying Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on his visit to Tajikistan.

According to the Tajik Interior Ministry press center, the ministers welcomed the signing of a government-to-government agreement on cooperation in the field of law-and-order, providing security and combating crime.

Ramazon Rahimzoda reportedly pointed to the necessity of combing efforts to address modern challenges and threats.

The ministers exchanged views on issues related to exchange of experience and training of personnel.

Iranian interior minister invited his Tajik counterpart to visit Iran at any convenient time for him.

Iran’s IRNA reports that Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli is expected to meet his Tajik counterpart as well as senior officials of the Drug Control Agency (DCA) of Tajikistan on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.
