DUSHANBE, October 2, 2014, Asia-Plus -- Officers from the Drug Control Agency (DCA)’s office for Khatlon have solved two drug-related crimes in the Rumi district.
According to the DCA press center, a wrap of narcotic drug that tested positive to raw opium was found hidden in Daewoo-Matiz belonging to a local resident on October 1.
On the same day, drug control officers found two wraps of cannabis and raw opium in a house of a resident of the Rumi district.
Both alleged drug peddlers detained and criminal proceedings were instituted against them.
Both crimes were reportedly solved in the framework of the ongoing anti-drug operation, dubbed Kuknor 2014 (Poppy 2014). This year, the anti-drug operation was launched in early May and it will run through November.
This annual operation, involving representatives of law enforcement agencies, local authorities, ministries of agriculture and health, as well as the committee for TV and radio-broadcasting, is dedicated to detect and destroy drug crops across the country.
