DUSHANBE, October 30, 2014, Asia-Plus -- French military contingent, numbering 170 technicians and soldiers, has reportedly left Dushanbe.
Mahmadyusuf Shodiyev, a spokesman for Dushanbe International Airport (DIA), has confirmed this information, noting that equipment of the French servicemen was also removed from the Dushanbe airport.
According to him, representatives of Tajikistan have also attended a ceremony of hauling down the flag of France a the Dushanbe airport.
We will recall that France had maintained two military transport aircraft and about 170 personnel at the Dushanbe airport since September 2001 to provide logistical support for French operations in Afghanistan.
The United States and other coalition members supported Afghan operations from a base in neighboring Kyrgyzstan.
