DUSHANBE, December 1, 2014, Asia-Plus -- A three-day methodical drill for senior officers from the Ministry of Defense (MoD) will be launched in the southern Khatlon province on December 2, Faridoun Mahmadaliyev, a spokesman for a MoD, told Asia-Plus in an interview.
According to him, the drill participants include commanders of all branches of Tajikistan’s armed forces, commanders of garrisons and military units. “The purpose of the drill that will be held in three military units deployed in Khatlon is in practicing the issues of organizing territorial defense, preparation of troops for winter, and improvement of training of personnel,” Mahmadaliyev said.
A special attention will be given to training of draftees and adaption of them to the conditions of military service as well as establishment of ties with soldiers’ parents, he added.
Minister of Defense, Lieutenant-General Sherali Mirzo is reportedly in overall command of the drill.
